Merry Christmas!

Do you know why I love the shortest day of the year so much?

Every next day there is increasingly more daylight!

It changes everything.

Sounds familiar? There is a beautiful phrase from the book of Isaiah that is quoted a lot around this time of the year.

“Of the increase of His government there will be no end.”

–The Prophet Isaiah in The Bible

The picture used for these last few posts was taken a few weeks ago when every next day felt significantly shorter.

And yes, I did take this picture myself, in case you’re wondering. So much beauty, right in front of our house!

I loved this image so much that I ended up using it for my past 4 posts around the themes of Advent these past 4 weeks. See previous posts.

Even though we can hardly notice the difference from one day to the next, just the knowledge that the shortest day is behind us makes all the difference.

It changes everything.

We know The Light has come. We have seen a great light and it shines brighter everyday.

This changes everything!

Here’s what the famous prophet says in Isaiah 9 in the Bible:

The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death,
a light has dawned.

You have enlarged the nation
and increased its joy.
The people rejoice before You
as they rejoice at harvest time,
as men rejoice in dividing the plunder.

For as in the day of Midian
You have shattered the yoke of their burden,
the bar across their shoulders,
and the rod of their oppressor.

For every trampling boot of battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be burned as fuel for the fire.

For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given,
and the government will be upon His shoulders.

And He will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace
there will be no end.

He will reign on the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to establish and sustain it
with justice and righteousness
from that time and forevermore.

May His light shine increasingly more brightly in your life and in your world, every single day.

It changes everything.

Merry Christmas!
